The attack on women is more prevalent than ever and the Equality Act is just one more example. Anyone who supports it is an accomplice to every pedophile or abuser who walks into the women’s restroom, changing room, locker room or shelter. No one can take seriously the words of Jesus to “love your neighbor” and support this misguided piece of legislation.

True story: A man dressed as a woman requested asylum at a shelter for battered women. He said his partner was abusing him and he needed a safe place to stay. The director of the shelter, a lesbian, was sympathetic with his plight but said she could not accept him in the residence. Placing him in a bedroom with women who had been beaten and abused by men would further traumatize them. He claimed discrimination—and won. The director was ordered to admit him. She said she could not be a party to inflicting further harm on the fragile women in the shelter and so she quit.

How many of our daughters, wives and mothers have to be put at risk before we come to our senses? This bill gives mentally ill men access to the places where women are the most vulnerable. Compassion dictates we try to help the mentally ill; it does not mean we endanger our daughters, wives and mothers in the process.

If God truly is love, do you really believe He wants us to intentionally put our daughters, wives and mothers at risk simply so we don’t hurt the feelings of a mentally disturbed person? Of course not! The solution is to help the mentally disturbed, not enable them.

The answer is love, not tolerance. God is love.

Who knew that a Kleenex box would play an important role in my life this week!

The other day I stopped by the grocery to buy a few items—one of them was Kleenex. I’m kind of a bargain hunter so I was looking at the quantity, thickness, and cost per unit for each kind of box. And then I noticed something very odd. There was a section of boxes that all looked EXACTLY alike—except for one very important distinction. They all said “70” tissues except for three of the boxes said “80” tissues. Do you want to guess which three boxes I purchased?

Instead of raising their prices Kleenex was simply lowering the tissue count per box in order to make sure they maintained their profit margins without raising the price. The result? You pay the same and get less.

And then I bought toilet paper. Once I got home I discovered the toilet paper rolls I had purchased were just a little narrower than the prior toilet paper rolls. Wow! These companies are shrewd!

Well, we all know that’s how business works. Companies have to make a profit to stay in business but they also have to keep customers happy so they offer as much perceived value as they possibly can.

I’m sure glad God doesn’t do that to us, aren’t you?

God’s love is extravagant! His power has no limits! His sovereignty is total and complete! He doesn’t have to ration his love so that there is enough to go around. He doesn’t ever conserve power to make sure he won’t run out. He never skimps on his mercy. His grip on the universe never grows tired. He NEVER changes the rules or the price. He is God.

Think about that next time you wipe your nose or….

How many times over the years did I hear my mother say, “Your brother was such a nice baby…and then you came along”?

You see, I was born with a temper. I didn’t ask to have a temper; I just did. I can’t help it; God made me this way.

A friend of mine is an alcoholic. Her dad was an alcoholic. Her grandfather was an alcoholic. Can’t she reasonably say, “God made me this way.”?

What about Bill Clinton and Harvey Weinstein? Do you think they chose to have a voracious sex drive? Do you really think they wanted to hurt all those women? I doubt it. Aren’t they entitled to say, “God made me this way” too?

What about the priest who sexually preys upon boys? Do you think he wants to have sexual drives that are contrary to Scripture? Of course not. But he does. So, can’t he credibly say, “God made me this way”?

As that great theologian, Mayor Pete Buttigeig, so lucidly summed up for all of us the other day, “If you’ve got a problem with who I am, your problem is not with me—your quarrel, sir, is with my creator.”

There you have it. We were all created the way we are and there is nothing we can do about it. The sexual harasser, the rapist, the drunk driver, the pedophile, the kleptomaniac… there is no basis for holding them responsible for their actions because… God made them that way.

Hmm. Mayor Pete may be a great guy, but he clearly hasn’t spent much time reading his Bible. Maybe before we blame God for our various predilections, we should first ask Him what He thinks. I know, that’s a radical concept, but let’s try it anyway.

The Bible, in James 1:13-14 says, “When tempted, no one should say, ‘God is tempting me.’ For God cannot be tempted by evil, nor does He tempt anyone; but each person is tempted when they are dragged away by their own evil desire and enticed.”

It sounds like Mayor Pete, like so many in America, wants to cherry pick some Bible verses while ignoring others. He may be able to fool some folks with his self-serving view of God, however, it doesn’t change the very uncomfortable fact that every time the Bible makes a clear reference to homosexual behavior it is always a negative statement—no exceptions. Don’t you think that if God, who knows everything, created us to act on homosexual desires He would have said at least ONE positive thing about it?

The truth is, we’re all broken. And we’ve been broken since birth. We need to be honest enough to own it and quit blaming God. Only then can real healing begin.
